Deforestation: The World in our Hands

We all are the same, for we are dust of stars and what we do to others, we do to ourselves. Take care of your Planet, as the home it is for all us, as the future land of your sons. It's the only we have.

The poem is named "Jungle: A Soliloquy", from Nepali, by Abinash Shrestha and translated by Mukul Dahal.

As you can see, deforestation is a topic concerning all the cultures, all over the world. Attempting to show the necessary reunion to stop the destruction of our planet -not only of ways of thinking, but of working hands- I ensambled three diferent versions of the traditional song Bonny Portmore.

First, Laura Creamer's version for Highlander: The Series - Volume II

Then, Jennifer McNeil's version for Highlander: The Endgame.

And in the end, the magnificent voice of Loreena McKennitt for her album The Visit. She also worked in Highlander with a sweet new version of Bonny Portmore, just a little bit different to her album's version.

I hope you find the peace and you dicover that there's no need to kill in this way the creatures that are smaller than us. We have to protect them, as the "superior" race we are.

Deforestación: El Mundo en nuestras Manos.

Todos somos lo mismo, pues somos polvo de estrellas y lo que hacemos a otros, lo hacemos a nosotros mismos. Cuida tu planeta, como el hogar que es para todos nosotros, como la futura tierra de tus hijos. Es el único que tenemos.

El poema se llama "Jungla (Jungla): A Soliloquy", en nepali, por Abinash Shrestha y traducido por Mukul Dahal.

Como puedes ver, la deforestación es un tema que concierne a todas las culturas, alrededor del mundo. Intentando mostrar la reunión necesaria para detener la destrucción de nuestro planeta (no sólo en cuanto a modos de pensar, sino en cuanto a manos dispuestas a trabajar) ensamblé tres diferentes versiones de la canción tradicional Bonny Portmore.

Primero, la versión de Laura Creamer para Highlander: The Series Volume II.

Luego, la versión de Jennifer McNeil para Hignlander: The Endgame

Un pequeño extracto de la misma versión de Laura Creamer...

Y al final, la magnificente voz de Loreena McKennitt de su álbum The Visit. Ella también trabajó en Highlander con una dulce nueva versión de Bonny Portmore, apenas un poquito distinta a la versión original de su album (aumenta aproximadamente un semitono en la versión de la película y no hay tantos instrumentos de fondo).

Espero que encuentres paz y que descubras que no hay ninguna necesidad de matar de esta forma a las criaturas que son menores que nosotros. Tenemos que protegerlas, como la raza "superior" que somos.

Pushing Jungle to a desert
I am singing of the immortality of it.
Along with jungle vanished will be the beauty.
Along with trees departed will be the appearance.
Along with birds flown away will be the decoration.
Along with rivers shredded will be the treasures.
Desolated will be the day,
no butterflies of youth flying around.
Flowers not in view, distraught will be the affluent seasons.
The golden-haired damsels of fragrance, alas,
will be kidnapped
by the clumsy-faced demons of foul smell.
Deprived of the warm embrace of leaves,
left in the lurch will be the wind.
Having lost the company
in hide and seek with jungle and river,
plunged will be the moon in despair.
Unable to sleep in the lap of trees,
suffocated will be the night.
Died will be the warm song,
sung for ages by the impulsive sun.
And transformed will be the pond
of lucid ambrosia into parched sand.
And the perennial flow of life,
will go on getting translated,
bit by bit, into a toxic fantasy,
into an abstract guffaw,
into an absurd wail.
The man
will become earth.
Deserted will be
the earth.
Pushing jungle into a desert,
uttering I am
a termite eaten incantation-
'May trees live long'

es uno de los mejores videos que he visto, sin embargo muchos no entienden que nuestro planeta fue creado para cuidarlo mas no para destruirlo, el futuro de este esta en nuestras manos y somos nosotros responnsables de su destruccion. pues hagamos algo por pretegerlo, evitando la extincion de muchos arboles y animales que cada dia mueren pidiendo auxilio cuyos gritos jamas llegan a tus oidos..

i dont think you realise, that we cant live without trees. they take in the carbon dioxide you breathe out. and they release oxygen so you can breathe. and not only that, how would you like it if your home was suddenly being torn apart and you had no food or shelter. seriously think about it yea. i dont know whats going on in america, and im not an environmentalist. i just respect that they're trying to give those who cant speak a voice. and its not like fish ballence their ecosystem or anthing.

At least they replace the forest with crops which still produce ample oxygen.....much of the eastern US was once heavily forested before settles cultivated the land much in the same way. Why are we the exception? In the US they clear forests to create subdivisions & shopping malls. So whats worse? Ultimately its their land to do what they please. Education, reseach & sustainability are more realistic goals to slow the degragation. Strong arming a nation of impovershed farmers is not the answer
