February 2006
Months after the earthquake hit, it's reported only half the aid needed has arrived in Kashmir. We accompany the foreign doctors co-ordinating medical aid.

Every day, people walk for miles down Kashmir's narrow mountain paths in search of help. "We don't have enough doctors to send to all the affected areas", despairs Brig. Sajjad from Pakistan's Defence Force. An Australian team has been dispatched to the Narleem Valley. "We're very close to the earthquake epicentre", states Dr David Ward. Many of the villages nearby can only be reached by helicopter. In an attempt to stave off the bitter cold, people have resorted to lighting fires in their tents. Some have been seriously burned as a result. But it's the mental injuries that prove most difficult for the doctors to treat. "There's only so much we can fix ... we can't fix people's broken hearts."
