I do not recall a single political commentator who was predicting a McCain victory in early 2007. Not a single one. When McCain rallied, everyone was caught off guard.
What O'Reilly said was basically accurate. OR isn't out of touch.

Every republican I know that voted for McCain had a VERY sour taste in their mouth afterwards. McCain was not well liked by the conservative base at all. Many Republicans think he's too far left. And "palling around" with Liberman on the campaign trail didn't help him out of this image, either.
