It was raining pretty well but I shot this video on Thursday October 7, 2010 as companies responded from quarters (ceremonially) for the last time from the old Oakland St. firehouse. The new station on White St. is due to be occupied by Tuesday of next week but this was part of the decommissioning ceremony for the old # 3. The hose wagon isn't original, retired FF Bob Rossmiesel (I hope I spelled his last name right) was the man who came up with idea of having a replica hose wagon for department ceremonies. The wagon is physically accurate is style and layout.
I remember these. There used to be tillers like this one at Armory st. Winchester Sq., and Pine st. They all underwent modifications, switched over to automatic 8V diesel power from standard shift gas inline 6s. Then as the stations closed and consolidated, they were retired. No more Maxims.

I worked at Oakland many time during my career. Sad to see it close but it had long ago become too expensive to maintain and the new ladder truck couldn't be used because the floor couldn't support the weight.
