Album: Felsic Mirage
Arranged by: Kokuchou
"Felsic is a term used in geology to refer to silicate minerals, magma, and rocks which are enriched in the lighter elements such as silicon, oxygen, aluminium, sodium, and potassium.
Felsic minerals are usually light in color and have specific gravities less than 3. Common felsic minerals include quartz, muscovite, orthoclase, and the sodium-rich plagioclase feldspars. The most common felsic rock is granite.
In order for a rock to be classified as felsic it generally needs to contain more than 75% felsic minerals; namely quartz, orthoclase and plagioclase. Rocks with greater than 90% felsic minerals can also be called leucocratic, meaning 'light-coloured'."
Right so that's a definition of "Felsic". Considering that the previous albums of EastNewSound had names like "Lucent Wish", "Sacred Factor", it's not really a surprise to see something like this. I was expecting something with big rocks because Fels is a rock in German but apparently it's a mineral with so-and-so much gravity and a light colour. So the mirage of a quartz or any other light-coloured stone that fits into the definition.
It's needless to say, the strength of EastNewSound has always been the incredible arranges behind the songs. Sure it's a similar style and genre but Crouka and Kokuchou are quite the masters of incredibly well-made Touhou Techno/Trance with vocals. In addition, it's Izumin who writes the lyrics most of the time (this time with a taste of his singing too :3) and they tend to be more serious and emotional at the same time. See nayuta's "there's so much sadness and misery in the world, yet humans continue to stand up and live" lyrics.
Now this time I thought I'd post this song because of the new singer. Yep Vivian is a new singer for EastNewSound (at least I think she's new, if not this is funny :D) and she's doing a good job with one of Reimu's most popular themes. For me Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle will always be THE theme of Reimu but Colourful Path has quite a number of arranges that make it awesome. But in any case, Vivian gets a plus from me for a positive start with ENS.
But here I'll also have to point out what usually seems a little bit weak compared to the strong arranges from the circle. The choice of vocalists. Well we all have personal tastes, but that's the experience I've made with ENS so far. I really like Uki Hanabi, Zensai and now Vivian, nayuta makes quite any song sound cheerful, Izumin is surprisingly very good and I'm just fine with Hotaru and Mamemi. But Tsubaki, Cryu, Chata, Ritsuka, Yura Hatsuki, nano.czkey, I get nowhere with them. That said I do miss Rekka Katakiri but who knows, hopefully Crouka or someone will get her back into the circle.
Hope you enjoy it :D
