Dingwall is a small, historic town in the North of Scotland. Its contribution to the first ever National Armed Forces Day on 27 June 2009 was organised by the local Royal British Legion Scotland (RBLS).
The day started off at 10.45 with a parade from the British Legion down the High Street for a commemoration at the local war memorials. The parade was led by the RBLS Juvenile Novice Pipe Band and the Strathpeffer Pipe Band followed by the Legion's Standard Bearers and colours from other Ross and Cromarty branches.
There are also representatives from the Seaforth Association, the Normandy Veterans, the Fire Service and the Northern Constabulary.
Young people were represented by the Army Cadets, the Air Training Corps, the Explorer Scouts and the Guides. Also taking part were Charles Kennedy, who is the local MP, MSPs and local councillors.
Later in the day veterans were presented with Veteran Badges and entertainment included pipe bands, charity stalls and a BarBQ. The day concluded with a community dance with music from the Playboys.
Most of the local shops supported the day by displaying flags in their windows. Here you can see the display in Deas, Dingwall's long established and independent bakers. Also shown is Dingwall's historic Town Hall currently boarded up for rennovation.
The day started off dull but by early afternoon Dingwall was enjoying one of the warmest and sunniest days it has ever experienced.
A great contribution from a small Highland community.

Hi Andrew. I have searched around and cannot find a video of the Tain parade. So it might be that there isn't one posted publicly. Can anyone else help?
Cheers.
