My prototype gas powered snowboard.
Built 2001, continuously modified since.
5.8hp 28x3x.75 track
169cm snowboard
Check out the rooster tail I kick up as I rip around in the snow on my 1-of-a-kind snowmoboard.

  • I want to give you credit for even trying to build that thing. I design and prototype things for a hobby and it is not easy. You have some important design elements though. The chainsaw engine will reduce the weight over other engine types while maintaining a healthy amount of power. The centrally located engine also helps to keep this thing ridable. Hanging the engine off the back makes the board unstable because the balance is so skewed. Good job.

  • While it is a redneck contraption, it was no accident that it turned out as good as it did. I didnt take the time to draw anything out but I did think about it quite a bit before I started building because I dont like to waste time building stuff that doesnt work.

  • that is the illest thing i have ever seen how did u desighn that

  • I just built it in my head, no drawings or measurements, I just got some parts that looked like they would work and used scrap metal to hold it all together. A little cutting, grinding and welding and I was done! Total redneck contraption.

  • It looks very hard to pull the same kind of turns I can do on a normal snowboard. Plus the belt driving that thing would suck if you wanted to actually go down hill snowboarding.

This is a fun toy for zipping around on flat land, in a straight line, but still not as cool as a snowboard.

  • It amazes me that people take the time to tell the world that this 80 pound contraption wont handle like a regular snowboard. NO SHIT! Obviously I dont take this thing to the slopes. It wasnt made to improve or replace the snowboard. I shouldnt have to explain that but some people just dont have a keen sense of the obvious.

  • Dude, you rock! Copywrite your prototype and get building. You'll sell a million! I'll even give you the name: "Zero Gravity Snowboard" (Although 'snowmoboard' is pretty good) But why not ride back UP the hill on your Zero Gravity Snowmoboard? Good luck and get selling! I'll check back to see if I can buy one...

  • i'd honestly get this patented fast. this kind of shit will fly in alaska

  • The precursor to the powered hoverboard in Back to the Future II :)

  • @ynotpyro double what you said. I think this all the time when I read the comments on Youtube and forums. The internet is great at creating really brave people hiding behind their little keyboards.

Great job on your board. The design looks solid, simple and flat out works, just as all good designs should.

  • there is something like this allready..

  • dude patent the idea .. and start making money cause i would buy this

  • i had this idea back in 8th grade and i honestly thought nobody would ever think of it. props to this guy for actually having the time and the motivation to build this.

  • wow

  • I just wonder what might be the maximum soft snow depth for this board to be able to travel. Have you tried? There are many complicated things to overcome before this kind of powered snowboard will be useable in different snow conditions and travelling up and downhills and on flat ground or even sidehill. I have made some tests and found out that its hard to find optimal solution for steering that would work in hard and soft snow.

  • this shit is hysterical
