  • @iandemagi I know that short pips have evolved for the 40mm. I'm using one right now 802-40. There were more champions using short pips back when it was 38mm. We can hardly see a short pip player in the top ten these days.

Short pips have evolved for the 40 mm ball just like inverted. It took more time to bring the pips out products to market since their was bigger demand for inverted, but they are out now.

  • Johnny Huang played superb. Contrary to common belief about pips hitters, Huang performs numerous heavy topspin shots (although not as spinny as inverted), mixed in with flat hits, to throw off Waldner.

  • The short pips are very effective with the 38mm ball not so with 40mm.

  • Not much spin for J-O to work with. Add to that Johnny's blazing speed and it's a deadly combination. But I think serve return is the biggest issue here. Waldner's backhand at 8:51 is sweet though!

  • First time to see the whole match. Speed won spin and fast attack won loop.
