this is one of the most beautiful, yet somewhat sad and nostalgic songs. Willie portrays these emotions wonderfully in his verson of September Song.. Even as a youthful 71 year old, I realize that most of my life has been lived, and that I am probably past September, maybe not quite to November, yet we must go on until we are called to even a better place. Bittersweet, but it is our destiny.

God bless your son. "Thus, link by link, is the strong chain broken that binds us to this world and our passage soothed to the next."

Greetings dear captainrhett. thank you for your note and yes i agree, it might be nice to catch up a little with family especially when they have the most beautiful name in the world, Michael! I had not kept in touch with my father's side of the family but so many of them reached out to me on and after 9/11 and we have very close and supportive relationships on line and on facebook. go for it! Sincerely FFMichaelRobertsMom, Veronica Fox-Roberts

@FFMichaelRobertsMom , My Dear Lady, by coincidence I have a nephew named Michael, also a Fire Fighter. I haven't been in contact with that part of my family in many years, and your note has made me think, it's about time for me to re-establish contact. I'm 77 years old, and there isn't many of us left. You have my deepest sympathy for your loss, Your son was a true American hero. - Olin J. Roberts, aka CaptRhett. Formerly from Charleston, SC.

@mikelist "September Song" was written by Kurt Weill, with lyrics by Maxwell Anderson not Milton Berle
