The Strange Story of Myself - Billy Franks

THE BACK STORY:
It was the Summer of 2005 and the guys (Gary Joseph & Mike Nicholson) and I were over in London hanging with Billy while working on the European 'leg' of our film shoot for 'Tribute This!'.

I had also been working on the DVD for the movie my movie 'The Altruist'. Now, there is no way we had any 'spare time' with how busy the TT! shoot was keeping us. But, with 'The Strange Story of Myself' being the closing theme to 'The Altruist' I was hoping to put some video version of it on the DVD.

Basically, while at Billy's house. I quickly set up two cameras. Bill hopped in front of his piano and we did just one run of the song. And that's what we have here.

TECHNICAL STUFF:
Shot on two sony mini-dv cameras. We called them 'baby cams' and then edited on the macrosystems 'Kron'. With some 'film grain' added for that 'old' feel.

REFLECTION:
I still love the song. But I'll be the first to admit it's not the most 'exciting' video. I do like how the second shot of Billy's face kind of looks like a mirror. Overall, it wasn't meant to be a rocking video. More of a peaceful reflection of the song.

NEW TWISTS:
No, new twists here. I debated 'converting it for 16 by 9, but decided the 'inset' 4 by 3 worked better for that old film look.
