I was fortunate to see this revival. Having seen the original with the orignal cast back in `75, I was skeptical that this would be any good without Fosse himself staging it, but Reinking managed to do the near impossible of making a lot of changes to make it her own while being true to Fosse. Also, Reinking was perfect for the role - I loved her throaty voice, very similar to Verdon's when she did it. Terrific show and deservedly still running on Broadway!

@roccoh21 Im not really much of a fan of Gwen Verdon either haha, but everyone has different opinions.

Neuwirth is so over rated. And dancing-wise, she is the least impressive Velma I have ever seen. Apart from the great Chita Rivera and Catherine Zeta-Jones, I thought Jasmine Guy was also sensational as was Lenora Nemetz, the original understudy for both Verdon and Rivera who eventually took over the role of Velma. And Neuwirth's singing...PAINFUL>

@ElmoAboob123 Are you aware that when the legendary Gwen Verdon did the role that she was 52? I had the honor of seeing the original 7 times and she was great. Reinking is almost a carbon copy.

Its still done that way on broadway. I saw Chicago on broadway this last July. It was amazing!
