Hailed as genius, provocative, and even eye-popping, Freakonomics sold more than 4 million copies, spent over 2 years on the New York Times bestseller list, was translated in 35 languages, and has exploded into a global brand.
Now, four years in the making, rogue economist Steven Levitt and award-winning journalist Stephen J. Dubner are here with the follow-up, SuperFreakonomics - a completely radical, thought-provoking, smart, and fun exploration of everything that come together with unexpected conclusions and will, as with Freakonomics, revolutionize how we make day-to-day decisions.

It turns out, if you walk, you have a higher risk of being killed... by a drunk driver!
Yeah, it makes sense. ¬¬

On Walking Drunk vs Driving Drunk, they might be right about your own safety, but your chance of killing someone else is (probably) a lot higher driving vs walking. So if you "have" to do one or the other (your friend won't let you stay at their house) the question is do you want to take the risk or put it on an innocent bystander.

where did you get that figure for methane? The common figure of methane being 25 times worse than CO2 for a given volume is calculated for a period of 100 years, not ten. I think you're are stretching the facts to fit your beliefs, rather than the authors.

Again the same for the prostitutes and cops. The sample size of prostitutes who have sex with cops then prostitutes who are arrested by cops is questionable. What makes very skeptical is that they present ratios instead of numbers, an very tricky bias when comparing categorical variables. These guys just look for random correlations and everyone falls for them because they are naturally biased towards believing any book that is nationally well known and publicized. They truly do a good job

also in regards to cows and cars, they again dont present the entire picture. Carbon Dioxide stays on average 300 years in the atmosphere compared to methane which only has a life span of 10 years. I have to call out their bs, but i admire their capability to manipulate the public psyche in order to sell their material. Very good industry in a world where the only way to get people's attention is through sensational facts and twists.

This is absolutely ridiculous selling this garbage. Walking home vs. Driving home, there is an incredible bias here. First of all, the sample of population is quite different. Its a statistical fact that if you have compare a large population and small population, the small population will show much greater deviation that the larger deviation. This is equivalent to saying that smaller schools are better than larger schools, a fact popularized by people like this taking advantage of human bias.
