On 25th January 2011 Qurban Hussain was made a life peer at this ceremony in House of Lords. Before taking his seat, Councillor Hussain took the Oath of Allegiance:

"I do solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, her heirs and successors, according to law."

Qurban is currently a Councillor and the Deputy Leader of Liberal Democrats group on the Luton Borough Council.

He is now given the official title of Lord Hussain of Luton in our County of Bedfordshire.
