Early on in this game, before I had actually learned how to advance safely without alerting all the enemies, I managed to get the attention of roughly 9 chryssalids at once- with the last move of my turn.

So they got to go immediately. Before I even realized what I'd brought on myself, they had slaughtered my four best squad members and severely wounded the rest of them.

I am not ashamed to say I reloaded that one. But I certainly learned to be more cautious when advancing.

I swear, he must have a personal grudge against Japanese things (JRPGs/Anime style things). D:

One of my supports I renamed as Smokes (on account of the smoke grenades), Eventually, she got the nickname Whisky. Also appropriate.

About that... you know how sometimes you can get a new, high-ranking recruit by completing a mission?

One of the names that gets randomly selected for these recruits is Benjamin "Yahtzee" Croshaw.

Considering Aliens can only shoot once per turn, and that your advice is completely incorrect, I'm just going to wager that you're not very good at XCOM and don't use Overwatch properly.

I named one of my Rookies Yahtzee Croshaw. He was given the nickname "Scotch." I think it's suitable.

That's what made it bad. You could literally use your soldiers as fodder without a second thought. That, in turn, makes you a really shitty commander, whether you win the game or not.

I disagree with Yahtzee. XCOM isn't great. It's a game where the more you learn the less you like it because maps become dull tactical puzzles rather than engaging, until the game cheats and teleports an alien sniper into the ideal position where he decimates your squad before you can fire back. Here's some tips if you're insane enough to play xcom, a squad revolves around the heaviest gun in it. Whenever you stop, put your squad into a 180 deg. perimeter around your heaviest gun.
