US Congressman Robin Hayes - Fayetteville/Cumberland County Military Sanctuary Dedication

On September 5, 2008, in a statement of support for the nation's military men and women, US Congressman Robin Hayes and local dignitaries declared Fayetteville/Cumberland County, NC the "World's First Sanctuary for Soldiers and Their Families," at a 'groundbreaking' ceremony at the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Armory and Museum. "In my experience, there is no community like Fayetteville and Cumberland County when it comes to supporting those who support us." In response to Hayes' declaration, Brigadier General of Fort Bragg, Arthur Bartell extended his gratitude and spoke of his pride in the community that supports him and the troops. "I salute the city of Fayetteville and Cumberland County for welcoming us with open arms and hearts. Its no surprise that the families of deployed soldiers are choosing to make Fayetteville and Cumberland County truly home," Bartell said.
