Uhmm - antibiotic-resistant bacteria? Nylonase? Seems beneficial to me. But then, what do I know - I'm a mutant - of course, so is everyone.

@bewarethelizards42 please do not even think i'm proselytizing. i really can't for some very good reasons, including the fluidity of my beliefs, my resentment of creeds and religion, my totally unorthodox take on theism, which i don't like to explain, especially in public, and my thorough detestation of proselytizing or being proselytizing. that said, i'm more or less theistic at my own pleasure and absolutely love this video. please deal with evolution as often as you wish. awesome.

literal interpretation of the genesis creation accounts (there are at least two, and they can't be harmonized) is impossible for a rational person. even if only one of the two or three accounts existed they are not able to be taken literally, as witness the obvious disorder in the sequence of events. also, darwin at least gave lip service to the idea of a creator. also, that moth example was the actual thing that convinced me of evolution. and i'm fairly theistic. i see no contradiction. at all.

I don't think creationists realize that the mechanism in our cells that copies DNA can make mistakes. Besides mutations, the process can produce deletions, duplications and translocations, and code can also be inserted by viruses.
If a duplication occurs it normally will not adversely affect the organism. One of the copies is then free to mutate without adversely affecting the health of the organism. When the mutated copy some day produces a net benefit, it is more likely to survive.
Well timed indeed.. :D
