great drill. Only exceptional players will be able to push of the bag and make a great throw moving backwards. Billy Ripken was a damn good MLB second baseman. You develop fundamentals and then your instincts take over during the game. That's why you take extra reps so you can learn and get used to both.

Ripken is teaching them right, but pretty much every kid did NOT take there right foot to the ball, and when they did it was about 3 inches away from the bag allowing them to still get taken out by a base runners slide.

I don think you should stay on the bag that long your gunna get cleated.. Idk maybe I'm wrong but thats what it looks like from my perspective

@knightsnumber22 Bouncing backwards is slower, by coming forward you take away travel time of the ball in the air. bouncing backwards the ball has to travel further to get to you.
I think overall this is a good fundamental video, however, I saw an error most of you saw. As the kids get older, the base runner will try to take them out (break up the double play) so you have to make sure you are out of the way. And, as a second baseman I personally find that a lot of times it is easier to bounce backwards from the bag rather than coming through it. This gives you something to push off of to make a harder throw to first. However, I'm not gonna argue with a Ripken. =)
