Also Spartans didnt compete at Olympic Athletes because rules didnt let anyone to take out enemies eyes and also rules didnt let anyone to bite eatch other till meat and blood comes out (at pankration)... And last, Spartans may not won they war but they gave to Greece the courage to battle after! Without that who knows... we may was all speaking persian now!!!

Actually the movie is surprisingly accurate to the actual event. the Spartans lost because of the arrow rain. Considering, lets say 3, new Spartans experience, even if they haven't been in battle before, could easily slaughter 50 Persians, if not more, in close range combat (A.K.A. swords, shields, spears, that kind of stuff). So either way the Greeks won the war against the largest and most powerful army in the known world. even though the Spartans lost the battle, they won the war hands down.
