youtube search "chris and nash rifle" without quotations. They give a demo showing the progression.

How long it takes depends on how quiet the horse is naturally. A hot blooded horse may take longer than a cold blooded horse. It also depends how you desensitize your horse. If you make the progression slow and transitional, you will get faster results than if if you advance too fast and create a bad experience for the horse, in my opinion.
