Ladies and Gentlemen......theeeeeeee Orraaannnnggge Blosssommmm Special!

This version of the mother of all fiddle tunes is by the great swedish 60's band "The Spotnicks" led by the inimitable Bo Winberg. There are two versions of Orange Blossom Special by The Spotnicks, the original is from 1963 and this one is apparently from circa 1977. Bo Winberg is the original guitar hero and is still playing today in his 70s.

I came across this version last week and had some time this afternoon so I did a rough cut. My apologies for the wardrobe malfunction and the mess behind me, renovation in progress.

Long live great music and The Spotnicks' musical legacy,

SSVR

  • Can u please send me the tab? / Jesper

  • @Romborna

Sorry I don't have any tabs, I learned the piece by ear. And have already forgotten how to play some parts!

  • I like this, it's a welcome departure from the usual "technical" stuff you've amazingly done so far. Still, great guitar-playing. Five stars!

  • Thank you. Re the departure from 'technical stuff', here is a tidbit people may not know: Bo Winberg actually recorded this piece at a slower pace and then sped it up in the studio. When he was asked to play live once in France, the band played along to a tape that was connected to the amp... It is quite technically demanding to play at the sped up tempo that you hear on the recording, which is the tempo you hear on this video. This tune is no piece of cake, LOL

  • Correction: I think The Spotnicks OBS version 1 was released in 1961, not 1963.Version 2 was released in 1977.

  • Gallant effort, Maestro. This is one peice I just cannot get my head around and I can play most stuff well.

I guess some fingers just will never go to certain places regardless how much we try, or practice.

    Great , Thanks for posting.

  • I've wanted to be able to play this since I was a kid. But I understand now that I can just give up. I cant even learn it watching this video. fuck me.

  • the original one was speed it up. Bo Winberg was a good guitarist but on this recording that the speed of the tape who made the sound.

  • I know...I'd never learn to play this even in a million years. Lolz!

  • Hey, you know I think you're great already but the music is awesome too!! Tons of start ratings!
