Imagine how much fun these boys had during filming! I read somewhere that they spent their entire summer at that camp.

Almost all the Germans,of any ages,exactly thought that.
Looking back to the previous years, before the Adolf Htiler's Government, they just saw darkness and poverty, humiliations and corruption.
When Hitler's party (NSDAP) was known by all the Germans, they strongly believed to this man. And after just 3 years of Governement, he succeeded in so many impressive goals (unthinkable in the previous 14 years Weimar Republic) keeping his promises.

thats where your wrong. most every german had no idea what was going on. the propeganda that the government was putting out made it seem like everything was fine, and that a great crusade was about to happen. the hitler youth was just infact, BASICALLY the boyscouts, with an underlying motive to train future soldiers for hitlers war. hitlers motives were wrong. the people were however good people. and i wouldnt hold the politics of high ranking officers and politions, into the hands of children.

they are just like todays boyscouts buddy. most germans in world war two had no idea what hitler was doing, what they knew is that the economy was getting better, and hitler was to fix all their problems. the children were encouraged to help their country in any way, and programs like the HJ, even with their underlying meaning, did teach at least some good. if i was alive at the time, i have to be honest, i'd probably want to help MY country in any way i could.
