  • @kingoliver45 I'm gonna go with Frank Sinatra as a personal preference in some songs, like Moon River for example. But other than that Louis Armstrong has a certain charm to his voice that nobody else has ever had. God hasn't blessed this world with anyone that even compares to Louis when it comes to touching people's hearts with his voice and wonderful melodies (maybe sam cooke who died too soon).

  • @StephenRoseBeats Preach!!! lol

  • @StephenRoseBeats Dont forget Ella Fitzgerald now!

  • I dunno but I cant make up my mind if its his or the Boswell sisters that have a better version, but this is so good

  • Louis armstrongs versions of any songs are always the best

  • I would try to contact phoebe Jacobs directly at the archives. She is probably the biggest louis Armstrong fan in the world. She might know something. Just thought you might want to know.

  • The song is so great, it outshines all of that racist nonsense going on in the background (the Aunt Jemima 'mammy' holding a giant piece of chicken, later giving it to a black man who devours it like a hungry slave).

  • This soundie is sort of the MTV version of racial stereotyping in its imagery. It's almost better handled by closing your eyes and listening to the music.

But what is interesting about this one is that Louis himself, who gets accused of Uncle Tom-ism, looks dead serious about his music on this one.

  • Great solo despite the minstrel show setting
