" Marino " aims to screen in maritime schools and maritime groups all over the country to show maritime students the lives, families they leave behind and hardship of seafarers. There will be special screening and film launching at SM Pampanga on July 19 ( Sunday). Regular showing is not yet confirm since the producers intend to show the film first in special screening basis.
SYNOPSIS :
Marino is a film that aims to shed light on the sacrifices and triumphs brought about by overseas employment, experienced particularly by seafarers.
Benjo is a 30-year-old husband and father who has been working as a seaman for the past seven years. He is about to embark on yet another journey as a seafarer.
Life on the ship is set. Professional kinship is developed as common aspirations and perils define life on board. Amidst the call of duty, the rudiments, difficulties and hazards of being a seaman, with his simple and noble acts of heroism are shown. Sea pirates, sunken ships, sexually transmitted diseases, foreign employment are among many issues that beset the job.
The seamans life of tested fidelity, hope and faith is chronicled as the shipmates rid themselves of loneliness, each seaman navigates his way through his own journey. Benjos bunkmate gets into a brutal accident. Another seaman struggles with his sexual identity, and another seaman, reminds Benjo of his happy-go-lucky brother who became a single dad too soon. Despite their differences, friendships between these seamen are developed.
After several months on his most recent voyage in the ship, Benjo gets an emergency call from his wife, Mina to inform him that her ill father just passed away. Deeply affected by the death of his father-in-law who was a second father to him, Benjo sadly informs his wife that he cant come back for his father-in-laws funeral. He reminds his wife, however, that sacrifices that he makes, he does for the good of the family.
Marino is a film that focuses on the individual lives of a seafarer husband and a grieving wife, separated by physical distance, learning to cope with the situation despite the length of time apart from each other, gasping in the depths of loneliness, uncertainty and fear, surging in the waves of hope, and never letting go.

@MrBabyboss12 i agree with that im a new officer in the ship.im still young.im just 22,all i can say,2days seafarer are all educated and properly trained..i am already 2yrs in the field all are international trade, no experience that in every port girls are coming aboard the ships.before its a tradition but sad to say today,in the modern world of seafarer,,no more like that..we are now focusing on our safety and delivering the cargo which every country needs,,,thats why im proud to be a SEAFARER

@iya6dec u seem dont know whats the reality now,,,today, every port,no more women allowed to get inside the terminal,,nor even visitors,,unless they have special purpose in visitng the ships...its all started after the 9/11 attack in america..ISPS or International Ship and Port Facility is implemented to all terminal and port...im a seafarer,,proud seafarer..an educated seafarer of today..

@MrBabyboss12 wow!!! for a seafarer you seem so religious.. are you sure you're not a preacher??? hihihi!
yeah.. and i must admit you've got a point there.. but you must also admit that once seafarers are in the port..
they make the most out of it... right???? and you cant blame others for thinking negatively about you guys..
you only have yourselves to blame for having a really really really BAD REPUTATION....

hehehe hmmmm i guess its not only the seafarers who will be called sex maniacs, even those who work on land even here in Philippines which who are more frequent into that thingy than the seafarers cause seafarer's usually say's in a short period of time in the port which is it is hard for them to screw (i knew a lot of guys and girls who are not faithful with there relationship and that really sucks and guess what they are not seafarer's)
