Here is how you overcome this copy right infringement. Don't remove this video. Repost the same video but don't title it Purple Rain, title it "Cover Song" or something like that and then attach it to this video as a video response. When people find the muted video they will see the attached video and click on it to hear the audio. Hope this makes sense.

why don't they just delete the video when they cut the audio? that way were not sifting thru all these to find one that works.

How long did it take them to mute the audio? My band's cover of Purple Rain was up here on YouTube for less than 24 hours before it got muted.

Ours made 3 or 4 days until they hit the mute button. It's not even in the same tuning and there are cockup's along the way, I can't see how they can claim it is copyright infringement myself. It's not like it's an actual video of Prince, it's just 4 guys playing it for a laugh.
