After a closer study up on my fish species this is actually a longnose gar!!! So enjoy either way!!!!
Here is a vid of me catching a nice spotted gar on a lure made out of nylon shoe lace. I caught this fish on the Conasauga River in Polk Co. Tennessee. It's a simple and very affective way to catch these fish without the worry of a hook pulling out. The gars teeth get caught up in the lace and you simply just real em in!!! I just cut the shoe lace into a 6" piece, fray the end, and insert a bullet sinker in the end and use a cigarette lighter to seal the end.

  • Actually, longnose gar can have spots on the head, especially small ones. Judging by the length and with of the snout, it is a longnose gar.
