Really? This guy is angry because a lot of people don't agree with his particular doctrine. In fact, he is insisting that all taxpayers be subjected to and abide by his views.
Civil marriage law isn't a word that some group wants to redefine, but rather, a set of state and federal laws granting certain rights and benefits. We shouldn't prevent any citizen from equal access to the law. That would be unconstitutional.
Once you see past his and NOMs rhetoric all that's left is simple bigotry.

@Blairtim69 LOL! What a priceless comment! Don't forget to indoctrinate him into the deviant lifestyle! Since we cant reproduce we have to recruit! Lmao!

Has this fucker ever met any children who grew up in same-sex households? You reap what you sow, Plante. Just ask our old friend Anita Bryant.

NOM is not a grass roots organization. They are funded by the Roman Catholic Church and a few very wealthy far-right Republican donors. They are NOT concerned about families or marriage. They are NOT concerned about children. They are only concerned with furthering their own far-right agenda. Everything they're saying is a pack of lies. Marriage equality was made the law of the land in Canada in 2005 and NONE of the doomsday scenarios that NOM is predicting have come true.

Chris Plante DEMANDS that his lesbian daughter marry a man!
What a stand up fella.
-
Oh dear lord!!! God forbid your daughter grow up to marry the person who she has a deep abiding intimate love for. It doesn't matter if she happens to be a woman who is attracted to other woman and falls in love with one through absolutely no choice of her own, she MUST be taught she can only, and WILL therefore marry a man. All to please Chris Plante, which is after-all what his daughter is for.
How is it people like this man, can't even SEE how reprehensible they are.

Latest example that Nom is ran by a group of raving mad lunatic morons.

NOM looks out and says, "There isn't a grassroots effort in Rhode Island [to oppose marriage equality] -- we need to open an office." That's an unusual understanding of "grassroots."

His religious views do not apply to me in the law if this country. 1st Amendment protects me FROM his religion.

WTF? So according to piece of work gay people think children are 'accessories to put into a purse'? Thats right, if you dont have any facts just make up a wild, malicious, bigoted lie - it is the Christian thing to do afterall.....

When he implies that children are considered accessories by couples who cannot make them on their own, you can tell what motivates him is irrational.
@Skulander1 Its funny you say that they aren't working on the divorce problem. Actually, when I interviewed him, he said that his goal is to make it HARDER for people to get divorced. I wasn't able to fit it into this doc as it was for a contest. But the sense I got from him was that marriage should be for life, in other words, if you marry someone who turns out to be awful (abusive, etc) that that couple should instead go into counseling to "preserve marriage" instead of just giving up on it.

So NOM is not "celebrating" marriage and family at all. It is discriminating against LGBT individuals. Fun fact Plante: we LGBT individuals ALSO have families and raise kids. I don't want my children to live in your hateful world. You can teach what you want to your daughter. But MY children (because yes, I DO intend to have some one day) will not be taught homophobia and hatred. They will be taught love and tolerance.
