some people say the Kiev88 has one hell of a mirror slap that shakes the whole camera - well its just not true! check it out - this true Soviet Badboy is built like a T34 tank and just as heavy.

  • There are lots of stories about how terrible Kiev 60s, Kiev 88s and even Pentecon 6s are.

    I think most of it was propaganda made up by photographers who wanted to justify the $'s they've just spent on their Hasslebald, or camera suppliers who didn't like the low prices because it meant a low commission!

    Truth is the designs aren't as bad as people made out, but with the Kiev's the quality control could sometimes be appalling, which really didn't help their reputation.

    A good one is good!

  • Maybe I'll try this with my Kiev 60... the mirror slap is substantial and will cause blur below 1/60th. Good thing for MLU though!
