I woke up at 5:30 this morning to my mom crying, telling me that our family dog of nearly 16 years was dying. I stood in the room where she was laying, this song playing in my head for an agonizing hour before we brought her to be put to sleep, not realizing how seemingly relevant the lyrics were in this situation. The shot killed her painlessly in less than 10 seconds. She's sleeping now. Forever. I'll think of her every time I hear this song from now on.
