  • @thechipmunkmafia101 : Foghorns protect mariners from crashing into the rocks that the lighthouse marks, in heavy weather ( fog, rain, snow or mist) the light may be obscured from view so this is where the fog signal comes in to aid the navigation for the mariner out to sea in order to pinpoint their position and prevent disaster- of course with the advent of GPS they say they are no longer needed, but I say different -a lot of mariners still rely upon foghorns to navigate dangerous waters.

  • As long as this lighthouse is sometimes open to the public, it doesn't matter to me

  • waht does a foghorn do?

  • Nice shot, quite a nice tone.
