This was just 1 or 4 brush fires today in Schuylkill County.

15:35 hrs. Schuykill County dispatched Butler Twp. along with unites from Ashland, Fountain Springs, Gordon, Heckscherville, DCNR (PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources) responded to a brush fire in the Gordon area of Schuylkill County. The fire was boarded on the East by Interstate 81 S. (mile marker 119 thru 124), High Ridge Road in village of Gordon and Malones Road and Turnpike Road in Fountain Spring to the North.

At approx 17:24 hrs Schuylkill County dispatch contacted Columbia and Northumberland County for mutual aid assistance. Mount Carmel Engine 3 (Clover Hose), Atlas Engine 21, Locust Gap E23 responded to the scene while Beaverdale Engine 22 scratched. Station 2 was also placed on standby.

Also dispatched at this time were Case Town, Buck Run, Minersville, Shenandoah, Saint Clair, Mahanoy Plane, Mahanoy City, Shenandoah Heights, Ryan Twp, Wilburton Aristes, and Centralia. The responding unites along with unites were assigned to protect structures in the area (Homes).

Hazelton aerial squadron also responded making numerous drops assisting ground crews in containing the fire.

Chief Jason Kane of Fountain Springs and DCNR representatives handled incident command. At approx 21:30 incident command started releasing unites placing them back in service.

Ringtown crew dug a few hundred yards of line until 2 AM, and returned at 8 AM to mop it up. St. Clair and Tamaqua also had hand crews on scene.

  • You forgot to mention the hand crews that actually did work on that fire. Our Ringtown crew dug a few hundred yards of line until 2 AM, and returned at 8 AM to mop it up. St. Clair and Tamaqua also had hand crews on scene.

  • If you're not going emergent what's the point of having your lights on in the first place? Sitting at a red light with your emergency lights on is just going to confuse the hell out of people.
