@mtemple72 You'd scream like that, too, if a big shark attacked and bit your leg off, too. I would think you would, anyway. I know I would if I was being attacked.

@akus1985 To please the masses? Are you kidding? The masses love violence.
I respect him from veering away from it, there's too much fucking violence and guns and death and gore in modern day cinema. People, and unfortunately kids, just get so bloody used to it (pun intended) that it doesn't it even bother them to watch a guy get eaten alive or blown to pieces anymore. It's weird.
And I can't even say I totally agree; Jaws is pretty violent, and imagine the effect it had 30+ yrs ago.

One thing I always noticed in watching Jaws, it was never explained by Hooper to Mayor Vaughan that the head came out of the boat was Ben Gardner, instead he wanted to see the tooth? Wouldn't he been better to say Bens head scared the shit out of me and I dropped the tooth lol

haha, this was never cut from the movie?
I could have sworn seeing a pic of the teacher, apparently dead, being carried by the shark right in front of Michael.

you are correct, originally that was going to be in the movie but was cut out due to graphic content. it was going to be that the teacher was half alive and pushed michael out of the way thus saving his life.its now a deleted scene on some dvd's

It was cut because Spielberg has never had an edge. If it's too violent or too controversial he cuts it out. Just look at the re-release of E.T. The Extraterrestrial. He replaced guns with walkie-talkies and in The Land Before Time he cut nearly 10 minutes of Don Bluth's movie, and he re-recorded character's screams because he thought it would be too scary.for kids. He's always sacrificed his, or someone else's vision just to please the masses.

@akus1985
Indeed I agree with you highly on this,I guess he didn't want to face any critical backlash so instead he scrapped as you said anything controversial or deemed to intense.
