DJ Ty from agiprodj.com brings us an overview of the NEW JBL PRX612M 12" 2 Way 1000 Watt Self Powered Loudspeaker.

We could not believe our ears today when we heard the new PRX600 Series speaker for the first time. With a 1000 Watt, Class-D CROWN Amplifier, wood enclosure, JBL drivers and engineering these speakers are a clear winner in our opinion. Bang for the buck, sound quality, bass response, and crystal clear sound make the PRX612M one of the best buys in the self-powered speaker market today.for DJs, musicians, bands, youth groups, houses of worship, lounges and even smaller clubs. We LOVE the PRX600 Series speakers. Excellent job on these JBL!

  • I just bought 2 of PRX612M and I noticed the Back Heat Sink is quite "hot" on both Speakers just sitting there (no music)....What gives.....This seems very strange to me....I have 2 Powered Behringers and they sit cool when no Music is applied ....Any thoughts....>>>Legacy By Right

  • @LegacyByRight Quite normal, according to JBL. We have asked them about this as well and what you're feeling is exactly what the speaker is design to do, pull the heat away from the internal components and into the sink that you can feel from the outside.

  • OK, so can you all help me out? These JBLs, K-12s, or Mackie HD 1221? I need new speakers and it's down to these three. What do you think?

  • @ownieb Great matchup, and probably way more to cover than the amount of characters we're allowed here. Shoot us an email directly on this one and we'll get right back with you. sales at agiprodj dot com. Thanks!

  • Any idea when these will be in stock? I have a larger gig in a few weeks and these would be a PERFECT fit for what I need to accomplish...

    Thanks for the vid TY!

  • @dchay333 We'll shoot you over an email. Thanks!

  • class d digital?

  • I own a Samson Expedition 510i system that has 2 12in speakers and the sound is amazing im kicking out 600watts, but they cant handle the bass, can i use this speaker to compensate the bass needed for my music, like i said im not a pro but i want to make sure i can make they feel my beats.....

  • I just heard ONE of these systems today. I was totally blown away by it.! I've worked with Bose, Peavy, Crown, and meny others and there is nothing that comes cloes to what these speakers are able to do. around 700.00USD each, but I believe these thingfs can handle almost any mid-sized and maybe even some larger gigs.

My band is saving up for a pair of these now.

  • Legacy By Right wanted to provide an update to our comments made back in early 2011. Our original concern on the warmth of the Heat Sink "is not a problem". We have used these Speakers for several gigs now and they sound and operate flawlessly. The Sound, Weight, , Appearance, Available Power are all great. Simple and straight forward design. As Floor Monitors we had to make make adjustments with some spacers. As FOH we love the clean sound for our Acoustics & Vocals. We bought another one.

  • @L33tPurple, I believe the S4 has TRS 1/4, so you can go from there to XRL.

  • can u go xlr to rca? i have a traktor kontrol s4 and only has 1/4 and rca

  • Hey Ty thanks for this review and all the others.. I'm trying to decide between the Eon 515XT or the PRX615M for general mobile DJing type of gigs. the price diff is a couple of hundred which is a bit of an issue but i noticed that you got really excited about the performance of the PRX versus the EonXT in which you were still possitive but more factual on specs rather than you opinion, which would you go with? I currently use 2xEON515 and looking to upgrade in order to get a bit more Wattage.

  • @agiprodj I understand what you're saying to LegacyByRight with regard to the heat coming off the heatsink, but it's concerning when the manual says "The design of the Crown amplifier is such that it is very energy efficient and as a result does not get really hot. In the rare event that it does get too hot it will automatically shut down to protect itself." Surely it should say "The amp is designed so it gets really hot..."?! Great review by the way.

  • How big a place you think you can use with these? How many people in a party you think you can use with these?
