One of my best friends is from Chicago and he is the most intelligent person I ever met. I hope a little love and happiness can come your way so you aren't so excited and overjoyed about kids failing school. Really? I would say the reason our public schools suck is because so much money has been taken out of them. I agree with you there needs to be better ways to hold bad teachers accountable, but stripping their right to bargain for livable wages is not the way to do it. I had amazing teachers in highschool that inspired me to stick with what I wanted to do and I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for them.

I think we should emulate Finland, they dropped the US model & had massive success.

Not a teacher? OK. Then let's be serious on youtube for a minute.The major reasons that the education of our children in America has become so abysmal is twofold:

1) the lack of quality in and accountability for teachers and administrative staff

in our public schools

2) Union corruption and manipulation of the entire public school system; they have no agenda other than squeezing the most dollars for the least amount

of work out of the system and lining the pockets of the union bosses

I am not a member of any union I am in my 3rd year of medical labratory sciences, I just have a different perception of people deserving livable wages I guess, no need to be so aggressive. If you listen to the teacher in the video she said it was more about getting higher pay, they are concerned that teachers are being evaluated by standardized testing, which makes a lot of sense. I went to public school and did well enough to get a full scholarship so your rant doesn't really apply to everyone.

Boy you public school teachers are doing SUCH a good job teaching. Funny how charter schools do so much better.
