ARCH ROCK via BEAR VALLEY (13.1 km / 8.2 mi.)
Probably the single most popular trail in the park, the Bear Valley Trail is the most direct walk to the ocean from the Bear Valley Visitor Center. This pleasant stroll through mixed Douglas fir forest and along Bear Valley Creek is sheltered from sun, wind and coastal fog. Arch Rock is an overlook point with no beach access.Begin at the Bear Valley Trailhead, at the south end of the Bear Valley Parking Lot.

I got a late start and didn't get to the trailhead until 1pm. The plan was to make sure I had enough time to hangout at Arch Rock to relax and to get back to the car before sunset. I hiked at a brisk pace, passing a lot of slower hikers on the trail. I took me 1 hour and 15 minutes to hike each way and I made it back to the car by 4:30pm. It was definitely a nice hike and the fast pace made for some much needed exercise. I think I'm going to hike it again in the next couple weeks.
