TROPO FM DX - TECSUN PL-310 - WENZ 107.9 MHz CLEVELAND OHIO HEARD IN BERKLEY MI 11/11/11

Here we have a Tecsun PL-310 receiving a perfectly listenable signal from 15000 watt 107.9 MHz WENZ Cleveland Ohio USA "Cleveland's number one for Hip-Hop and R&B"

This is off of the whip, no external antenna connected.

The station, like most of my other videos, was heard here in my home - Berkley, Michigan USA.

That's about 105 miles or 170 kilometers. Not the most amazing of DX, but another nice example of the capabilities of the Tecsun DSP radios.

In this clip, the radio is located in what is perhaps the worst room in my house for radio listening, the computer room/den on the first floor of my home.

Apart from my Sony XDR-F1HD and FM6 rooftop antenna, these Tecsun DSPs are my absolute favorites when it comes to FM DXing and listening to weak signals such as high school and college stations.

The PL-310, PL-380, PL-390, PL-606, PL-505 all offer very similar FM performance.

Nice demo of what the PL-310 is capable of... Certainly, reception from 170 km away isn't really spectacular DX but it's impressive that such a small portable is pulling in a signal like that. I assume there were slightly enhanced tropo conditions though.
