This is a technical and historical documentary I made (took about a month) focusing on the most powerful battleship ever, the Yamato class super-battleships designed and built to engage and defeat the United States Navy. Largely unknown to the US government at the time of World War II, the Yamato was constructed in secret and launched in 1941.

  • She was also designed to have heavier armor and a bigger displacement.

  • The Super Yamato would have been able to easily outweigh the Yamato in any fight being designed with six 20" (508mm) guns in 3 turrets capable of firing AP shells weighing just over 1.8 metric tons, and 24 3.9" dual-purpose turrets in dual mounts (similar to the Akizuki destroyers) for excellent broadside AA cover. Her only weakness would have been to be alone with 3 battleships or 9 heavy cruisers, and submarines. She was cancelled after the loss of Midway in favor of carriers.

  • Very interesting. Well done!

  • Love the mainguns firing. best yamato video out there. Great job!
