American Civil War Fantasy is a tone poem portraying the mood, music, and events leading to the American Civil War. Following songs depicting daily life in the North and South, we hear the rumblings of marching drums and the sounds of patriotic songs. After a meditative reflection, the noise of battle describes the conflict. Finally, a new hope for a perpetually united America rises from the ashes.

Jerry Bilik was one of my professors in college. In addition to his concert works, he arranged many of the songs used by The University of Michigan Marching Band. He is a musical genius, great teacher, and very personable.

Good balance with all the instruments!! (a - for themanizi) Loud low brass is not always "good" low brass. It needs to blend and balance. These guys did a great job of that. (b - For Doombah and Drummerlead) - They played the percussion break as written. If you played something different than this part, it was re-written from the original score. All in all, I like the way this was performed.
