As we hold our first MIT Enterprise Forum of the year Boomers, Technology & Health: Consumers Taking Charge on January 19th, the oldest baby boomer will turn 65 that month.

There are 78 million baby boomers in the U.S. today, representing the fastest-growing, largest-spending segment of any single demographic in history. Also known as the Sandwich Generation, they not only manage their own lives, but often those of older and younger family members. Research has found that tech-savvy boomers want to make managing their own health and wellness, as well as that of their family members, easier, affordable, and on their own time. Baby boomers want to age in place, and also extend the time their aging parents can remain in their own homes.

Will boomers demand and drive the "consumerization" of health? What role will mobile, social networking and data technologies play? As an affluent group who adopts technology with enthusiasm and is willing to try new brands, it will be fascinating to watch how innovative companies develop and market tech-enabled products and services to meet the demands and lifestyles of this iconic generation.

Join us on January 19th as our stellar panel of speakers explores from both a social consumer standpoint and a technology lens how sensor, robotic, software, wireless, UX, hardware, mobile, gaming, and networked technologies will come together to deliver "personal connected health" solutions for the 45+ consumer demographic.
