Is there ANYBODY who knows about or owns a similar set or installation like this? Please let me know!
My genset was build in the 1980's by what is now called Lister-Petter in the UK. Originally placed at one of the 11000 Brittisch Telecom stations, now it serves its days at our farm. Still 100% reliable and with 10kVA more then enough power. It can be started by hand, by switches or fully automatic. The 1.9Liter aircooled diesel is quickly up to speed and temperature by using a dry-sump system. The mono phase ECC generator however is not reconfigurable for three phase operation. So in backup mode three phases are joined as one, and typical threephase motors are (hard-)wired so they can't be running from the mono phase backup solution (would other wise burn out).
The black shield next to the dieselfilter is to deflect hot air away from the cold air intake. There used to be an enormeous 40cm diameter flex hose to do this, but that was too ugly to look at.
Danfoss temperature and oilpressure sensors give away this set was build to militairy specs. Everything is very robust and very well engineered.
Right next to the control cubicle is the home made bypass switchbox. This makes maintenance easier and safer!
The electronics work on 24VDC with 'plus' side connected to chassis/ground, which for us Europeans is unusual. It makes reading the diagrams a bit tricky.
Funny thing is that the oilfilter for the Lister ST3 is the same oilfilters as used in a Peugeot 205 Diesel. Just like the one I'm driving myself!

Ernie
