The title says it all. This extremely boring, but somewhat informative video, details what I consider essential items for long distance motorcycle travel. This is part two of four. Continuing priority one items

  • Hey don't diss my Frogg Toggs! Funny you mentioned that. I have a pair same color and everything. I use them both in the rain and the cold. I was a bit leery of the material but dang if it doesn't do the job. It does just fine for blocking the cold wind.. BUT I am just scooting around town, not trekking across the country.

Compared to a $100 motorcycle rain suit, yeah they don't compare, but like I said, around town they are ok IMHO.

    Just my 2 cents.

    PS: Love the video!

  • @ikillbugs Haha, it's just my personal opinion my friend, I had a good bit of trouble with mine..but I can see them working if the conditions are in your favor.....thanks so much for commenting...

  • I never use "plasticboots" like these shown here. if you are unlucky and turn on the side for some reason - the heat of the exhaustpipes will burn like napalm and damage your legs - I have seen it. if youre into heavy rain - strap a pair of regular shopping bags og plasic around your feet, and you can just throw them later.

if you plan to go around the world - follow the advices here - he should have a servicetruck for all his equipment. ThM

  • @thm4855 Those "plasticboots" are alpinestars and worn by some of the best racers on earth... They much...much higher chance of the bike going down on their legs..if a grown ass man isnt strong enough to lift his bike off his leg in the 10 minutes it would take an exhaust to burn through.. Mebbe a gym membership is order...thanks for the comment

  • What about reflective lenses for a helmet? Is that OK for night or would it still be wise to have a clear one?

  • @harleynathan I guess it depends on how long/far you'll be riding after dark..personally I prefer clear, because looking out for wayward animals you need to have the most clear vision possible

  • Yeah your right. How do people ride without a face shield anyway. I've had bugs the size of bats hit my shield at eighty miles an hour. How would that not kill? HA

  • Great set of videos.. I have been struggling with whether to buy something like an Aerostich suit with armor for a trip... Awfully Expensive ! Here you seem to dismiss this.. which makes me feel a lot better not having them.. I do have a great pair of Kevlar cargo pants from Corbin that were not too expensive.. Great riding pants..

  • love how your atlas opened right up to north carolina WHOO!!

  • I got frogg togg raingear when I first started riding, I regret spending money on it. Water soaked right through it.

  • @billmaa if I am on the side - half unconsious and in great pain, I dont think I am able to use a free foot to kick my HD of 326kgs away from my foot. by the way - I am average strong.

    ThM

  • I went to Autralia a few weeks ago, thought hey lets try Vegemite. It is the most bitter thing ever
