  • Hello, Ridden. I am persuaded, that all of these videos called Miles and Tony come from the same concert. You know for sure, where and when it was. Could you type it down

  • To tell the truth I'm clueless.

I found these videos in my collection and uploaded them for a friend to see - I don't actually know where I got them or where they are from.

If you're able to find out - please send me a message and I'll add it to the info.

  • @IPstixrawesume I read your post and thought it was mine for a second. I haven't heard/seen Matt Greiner yet, but I know portnoy and adler to an extent... I caught on to Tony during studies too. Anyone can be good, if they're playing music. Otherwise it sucks, lol. I think my original comment was a little aggressive and absolute, hahaha!. :) but look, you got him at your best time for active listening... peace

  • @rebusd I will be honest, I did not know who TW was until I started getting my degree in Music at my current university. Now I'm working on getting TW's discography. Sure, I'll still listen to a lot of drummers of today that have a name (the couple that come to mind are Portnoy, Matt Greiner, and Chris Adler). But I'm always amazed by TW, Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, Max Roach, and the like.

  • @Samsgarden I think any drummer who actually wants to be true knows who TW is, but that's just me, lol

  • Yep, that's the band.

  • This is the second great quintet, correct? With Carter on bass, Shorter on sax, and Hancock on piano?

  • Hey ridden - do you have the full vids of these songs?? !!?!?!? The audio and video quality is AWESOME.

  • "trips me out how the younger set is all high on the new players who copy the greats but don;t know who Tony Williams is"

It's dumbfounding isn't it? Even more so that TW has sunken into obscurity since his death.

I guess it's the brightest flame thing....kind of a good for Tony when you think about it.
