i have tried so many different rigs and lures for gar and so far this is the only one i found that actually works and isnt a pain to make:)

My friend made that so I went on the internet 2 find a better 1 and he sent me a pic of a 4 and a half foot long gar awesome lure I have 3 in tackle box

can u show a video on how to make a rig that a hooks the gar.. i used this same rig but i missed about 40 gars in 1 day.. i found a creek in south texas that is flooded with gar... the only 1 i caugt was from a double hook and it hooked him in the back

Thanks for the video! I've had gar go after top water buzz baits before, and have a ton of old skirtless ones that'll make good rope lures. I've put some together, but the down side is I've got to wait till tomorrow,...

Does it matter what color rope you use?

@xxluckycharms123 I'm not really sure. I only use white and I buy it in 100' lengths. I had a friend try red and green once, but didn't have any luck. Let me know if you have any success with the other colors. Thanks for watching and posting! Doug

Hi rippac86, I'm not sure what it is you are asking for exactly. This video shows the lure I use to catch longnose gar. You should never really attempt to 'hook' a gar as they have boney structures that are difficult at best to actually hook. If you have made the lure correctly and you get a bite, you should have the fish. This will probably not work with an alligator gar if that's what your seeing.

@superd62 I'm not sure what you are talking about. This has been posted on here for months with several users making and using them. I've used these rigs for years. I think you must be mistaken. :)
