Im sure we all agreed organic foods are better for us than conventional. My Q is what causes us to buy mainly conventional? Excuses I hear are cost, availability and or not knowing where to shop.
Firstly, it is not TRUE that it costs more. Sure some foods might, but when you get to know your local farmers and know where to shop, youll find it isnt much more costly. And if it was true, you know what YOUR BLOODY WORTH IT!
Why wait to become disabled by a chronic condition/dis-ease? Start now by putting the right fuel in your body.
Taken from The Organic Consumers Association - Organic Bytes #206: 2010 - The Year of Eating Organically
Organic food doesn't contain pesticides. More than 400 chemical pesticides are routinely used in conventional farming and residues remain on non-organic food even after washing. Children are especially vulnerable to pesticide exposure. One class of pesticides, endocrine disruptors, are likely responsible for early puberty and breast cancer. Pesticides are linked to asthma and cancer.
Organic food isn't genetically modified. Under organic standards, genetically modified (GM) crops and ingredients are prohibited.
Organic animals aren't given drugs. Organic farming standards prohibit the use of antibiotics, growth hormones and genetically modified vaccines in farm animals. Hormone-laced beef and dairy consumption is correlated with increased rates of breast, testis and prostate cancers.
Organic animals aren't fed animal remains or slaughterhouse waste, blood, or manure. Eating organic reduces the risks of CJD, the human version of mad cow disease, as well as Alzheimer's.
Organic animals aren't fed arsenic.
Organic animals aren't fed byproducts of corn ethanol production (which increases the rate of E. coli contamination).
Organic crops aren't fertilized with toxic sewage sludge or coal waste, or irrigated with E. coli contaminated sewage water.
Organic food isn't irradiated. Cats fed a diet of irradiated food got multiple sclerosis within 3-4 months."
Please start to look around and shop local, get to know your farmers and where you can buy organic. If we the consumer demand it the universe will provide.

  • "Organic animals aren't fed byproducts of corn ethanol production (which increases the rate of E. coli contamination). "

Just want to clear something in this statement. E coli increases due to feeding cattle corn not from feeding dried distillers grain which is the byproduct of alcohol production. E coli increase due to the large amount of starch in corn which cattle cannot digest efficiently

  • as you said dont believe anything i tell you LOL ,,,

  • @killlaroo3 International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition "Organic food:nutritious food,or food for thought?" Reviewed studies comparing organic to conventional food diets in animals. Weight gain was greater in organically fed rats, mortality was lower at 9 weeks, and the incidence of degenerative diseases was lower.

  • I am doing a case study into whether organic food is better for you or not. so far both the NHS and FSA say that there is no difference between organic and non organic. now forgive me for being sceptical but when watching this i found it hard to believe that organic foods can reduce the risk of autism, learning disorders, diabetes cancer heart disease, allergies (what type or all in general), osteoporosis, migraines, dementia and hyperactivity.can you reference which studies showed this

  • It's a pleasure to be in service to you. I wish you well on your new journey. You stated RAW! As a 'yellow' flag, please understand that if you have compromised your stomach region (Mucosal barrier) and or you do not have enough enzymes and or good quality HCL production in your body (up your good salt), you may discover further challenges. I'm a big fan of consuming RAW foods (they do contain enzymes if not transported, radiated, heated above 122 degrees F, etc). I hope that makes sense, enjoy!

  • Many thanks for asking. I buy at Booths, (generally buy local produce), local Farmer's market in kendal and in Milnthorpe.

Bottom line I read labels (UK flag) and may also shop at ASDA, TESCOS (rarely), but choose local foods. Find a local Farmer's market near you. Most of my foods are organic, but some are not labelled as such, but are local and have not been sprayed with anything.

Create a great loving day and thank you for your message.

    Sending love

    Magnus

  • Many thanks will do. The challenge for many people is having a fully functional stomach/intestines and be able to process RAW VEG/FOODS. If your mucosal barrier has been compromised -leaky gut (and this will be on a SAD/BAD CRAP diet) then consuming raw may not serve. Your body will not be able to absorb, digest, assimilate them. Thank you, sending love

  • You're taking control cclodfe. Awesome stuff. Grow your own! Brilliant stuff. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy
