You don't always, and in my experience the visuals aren't the most interesting phenomena one may experience whilst be-shroomed. In some ways the most interesting experiences I have had have lain beyond the visuals so to speak, quietening the visual cortex like the internal dialogue. The visions/experiences of the void, in some sense.
