Dacia Duster (monster850-hp GT-R-powered) Pikes Peak 2011 VIDEO OFICIAL

When Renault said that it was going to take a stab at running Pikes Peak(http://director.usacracing.com/ppihc/files/pdfs/map.pdf) in 2011 AND use a Dacia Duster to run the competition, a lot of people, shall we say, scoffed at that idea.:))http://www.usacracing.com/usac_live/ppihc_timing

As it turns out, Renault was actually serious about the whole thing because the first photos of the Dacia Duster Pikes Peak have gone live. It seems a little ambitious for Renault to try to compete in one of the most famous - or infamous - hill climbing competitions in the world, especially considering when they're using their low-cost, Romanian-based brand for the whole competition.

But this isn't your ordinary Dacia Duster. While details are still limited, there are whispers going around that this particular Duster will carry a Nissan GT-R-sourced V8 engine that produces a staggering 850 horsepower. Last we checked, that's a load of power, especially for a car that's been stripped down to weigh just a little less than 900 kg (1,984 lbs). :)) http://pikespeak.zenfolio.com/p1066356400

The car is set to compete on June 26, 2011 at Pikes Peak, Colorado and will be piloted by Jean-Philippe Dayraut. We don't know how competitive it's going to be against the Imprezas of the competition, but there's plenty of power under this Duster's hood.

Aviz de surub D. Duster a ajuns pe podium in cea mai dificila cursa montana de anul acesta! Masinile care au participat la cursa inglobeaza tehnologii de ultima ora si sunt construite de departamente specializate care dispun de fonduri si tehnologii care nu se regasesc pe bandele de asamblare "de serie". Dintre concurenti de pe podium doar Duster-ul a avut caroseria asemanatoare cu o masina de serie! Este usor sa va imaginati cat a fost de penalizat din cauza aceasta la capitolul aerodinamica!..

I honestly believe that the car is faster than that. On more than one occasion the driver lifted when he could have kept ot to the floor. Not to mention other minor mistakes. Even so, nice car.

@alxcsb it is obvious that he drove cautiously and carefully! Monster Tajima is vetaran the runway, smashed everything and forced the car to the max! but he was helped by co-pilot ... but thank Renault. Thanks Jean-Philippe Dayraut. and wish you luck!

@taZzboga excelenta idee! pe transfagarasean sau transalpina, unde sunt niste peisaje superbe, care ar promova ele insasi România! dar eu zic sa dam banii mai bine matusei Tamara si celor de la bechtel ca ne fac ei 18 KM de autostrada in 48 de ani la pretul de 598 milioane de euro :))
