Isn't Wart just on the ground in SMB2/DDP?

yes i have done tht be4 but then the music still keeps playing and then it just gets annoying

i found this out after losing to him a bunch of times. At first i couldn't shoot it fast enough and then i assumed that it would stay there so i just killed myself. Then a couple times later i just stayed there and it disappeared! And just now i was at the beginning of the bowser part and all of a sudden when i go to the end he just dies!
