This is a trip to Chino Hills State Park near Chino Hills California. First up is a view of Lower Aliso Canyon. Then a side trip to one of the old windmills that used to bring water up back in the cattle ranching days. The cows are still there but they get their water from some of the creeks in the park now. Then we see a Prickly Pear Cactus has some ripe fruit on it so my cousin cleans one up to eat. Tastes like watermelon to me. Then a dead mustard plant with tons of bugs crawling on it. Finally on our way to another of the windmills we travel in a creekbed and disturb a Barn Owl. Nice Day.

  • This makes me want to hike out in that area. I've never seen fruit so plentiful on cactus like that.

  • @MsSpy If you go in the spring you will see lots of nice flowers. If you get up high on one of the hills you have great panoramic views of the mountains in our area. Its too bad Gov. Arnold closed the park down except for Saturday and Sunday. Its funny the state is removing 40 something unused power poles from the park at a cost of two million dollars. But they cant open the park on weekdays. Dont you love how our government works :)

  • Ahhh how cool is this! I love this park! Any animal sightings besides the owl?

  • @Sheety33 No other sightings that day. I've seen more Deer, and Bobcats,Coyotes than any other place I've been at CHSP. Cool Place, I see you go there alot too :)

  • That's another awesome place. Smack in the middle of 22 million people, it's a piece of quiet. Cactuss apples are great to eat!

  • @NotSoOldHippy Not too many people know about this park. Its only open Saturday and Sunday now and they raised the parking price from $4 to $8!.I used to come here all the time.Lots of animals here.
