Alex Hassan is one of the world's greatest pianists specializing in novelty piano music from the 1920s and 1930s. His Fats Waller medleys are already the stuff of legend. This video includes an excerpt from his J. Fred Cotts medley ("For All We Know (We May Never Meet Again)" and "Two Tickets to Georgia." It also includes Hassan playing the Depression-era Happy-Toon "Cheer Up, Smile, Nerts". In addition, the video includes Alex talking about his music, his training, and his musical collection.
Alex Hassan's CDs are available through Shellwood Productions.
What a fanatastic talent Mr. Hassan is and his knowledge of this wonderful early American music helps bring it back to life for us to hear and enjoy today!
