Impedance can not be measured exactly by measuring ohms only. Ohms are a rough indicator. Impedance consists of resistance R (measured in Ohms), inductance L (measured in milliHenry) and capacitance C (measured in microFarad)
Resistance R is what you measure with this setting on a multi-meter. That is a big factor in a speaker impedance so it can be a rough guide. Real impedance Z measurement requires a more complex meter. But that's not needed for this consumer type of impedance quest :-)
it's the symbol for ohms idiot...Z is the symbol for impedance...this guy has no idea what he's talking about. Impedance is X ohms @ 1000 hz (usually how speakers are measured). All he's doing is measuring the DC resistance of the speakers which will always be less than the rated impedance...nothing weird about it.
