Hemp for Ethanol in Kentucky, with Craig Lee

A descendent of hemp farmers and curator of the Kentucky Hemp Museum & Library, Craig Lee knows hemp is a superior crop choice for cellulosic ethanol production - the next wave in eco-friendly fuels. Hemp hurds contain 70% cellulose. Also, hemp seed can be used for biodiesel and for food products.
Craig points out that using hemp for ethanol will leave corn and soybeans to their best uses as food. Hemp is easier on the soil and uses far less water than corn.
Any biomass or cellulose carbohydrate is superior to hydrocarbons (petrochemicals), because this year's living plants take up the carbon from last year's crop burning in your car. Also, there is no sulfur dioxide produced - no acid rain!

@David777111 this is a old comment, but i think youre so passionate about hemp that id let you in on a little secret : the elitist from the oil industries produce fertilizers that are made from oil based products, according to some things ive heard, hemp could produce alot of ethanol that could do a way better and cleaner job of fertilizing : municipal lands, golf courts, our lawns, farms and whatever needs it.

hemp produces more bio fuel than corn period. as does blue grass sugar beets and almost every thing else. It is stupid to grow Corn for bio Fuel. Hemp also has a broad range of climate as well as soil conditions

@drgreenmwdf I agree with what you've said, but why has the rest of the world not adopted it as a plant for fuel production? You can't blame the government because America is the only industrialized nation that does not allow farmers to grow it. If it is so inexpensive and so efficient, why isn't Europe or Japan or China using it for fuel?

Maurijuana industry is growing. New Mexico, California And New Jersey will have dispensaries for medical maurijuana. Canadian farmers making good money growing hemp. Hemp food product sales are increasing. Hemp makes good paper. No taxation without legalisation. Hemp makes good birdseed. Food, fuel and fiber.
